The North Star Academy Board of Directors provides strategic leadership to the school, operating as a policy maker and delegating the day-to-day management of the school to its Principal. The board is comprised of five individuals who share a common vision for the school.

Jennifer Larson, President and Founding Board Member

Jennifer Larson is an operations and marketing professional experienced in conceptualizing, planning, and successfully executing strategic initiatives and new business opportunities. Originally from California, Jennifer has extensive strategic and operational management experience both domestically and internationally. She has held the position as Director of Marketing for several high-tech companies, including Durand Communications, Inc., which she successfully managed from start-up through its acquisition by Webb Interactive Services, Inc. Additionally, Jennifer worked for, where she was responsible for the development and execution of a multi-million dollar integrated marketing campaign. Currently, Jennifer runs her own business, providing consultation and strategic direction to companies who are launching new products and business opportunities. She holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Jennifer lives in Highlands Ranch, CO with her husband and three children.

Lorrie Grove, Vice President and Founding Board Member

Term expires April 2010.

A Colorado native, Lorrie Grove, APR holds a BS in Technical Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations from Colorado State University. She obtained her APR designation (Accreditation in Public Relations) from the Colorado Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America in 1995, and has 10 years of media relations experience in the mutual fund industry. She served as Director of Public Relations for Founders Asset Management, focusing on national press coverage for the Dreyfus Founders Funds, managing media training and coordinating executive media tours. In addition, she managed internal corporate communications programs, facilitated employee relations and special events. Prior to joining Founders, Lorrie managed national media relations for Janus Capital Corporation. With her extensive experience working with the financial press, she has also done media training consulting for corporate executives. She is a former volunteer literacy tutor and has done pro-bono public relations work for the Denver Art Museum. Lorrie and her husband live in Highlands Ranch with their two daughters.

Lisa Nolan, Secretary

Term expires April 2009.

Lisa received a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies, and a Master's degree from the University of Colorado in Early Childhood Special Education. She spent 12 years in the education field in a variety of roles in both public and charter arenas. After teaching regular and special education, she became a national teacher/principal recruiter. Her administrative work has included managing grant and evaluation programs and the start-up of multiple charter schools. Lisa resides in Highlands Ranch with her husband and two sons.

David Eberly, Treasurer and Founding Board Member

Term expires April 2008.

David has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of North Dakota. He has been employed in the public accounting profession for over 18 years, and is currently a partner at KPMG LLP. In this capacity he advises clients ranging from small owner-operated companies to large publicly held companies on a variety of accounting and regulatory matters related to their financial reporting activities. He has also served as a member of the finance committee of the Highlands Ranch Community Association. David and his wife live in Highlands Ranch, CO with their daughter.

Michael Nelson

Term expires April 2009.

Michael has degrees in Business Economics and Public Recreation from South Dakota State University. With a career in the telecom industry, he is currently a lobbyist in the Government Affairs Department for Comcast. Previously he oversaw compliance for multiple areas of AT&T Broadband with a focus on collection and distribution of telephony-related data in support of activities including public policy initiatives, legal actions, legislation, marketing initiatives and reporting requirements. Prior to AT&T, Michael worked in provisioning and troubleshooting with Teleport Communications Group, analysis and reporting with AT&T Local Services Access Management and held management position with Level 3's Private Line Customer Network Operation Center. In addition Michael has spent time as a substitute teacher, a religious youth leader and has lead city recreation departments. Michael and his wife Lisa have four children and live in Parker, CO.
